Audra Traum walked alone. She didn't have, didn't need friends. The school week was finally done and Audra was walking home. Her backpack was heavy on her back but she didn't let it show. Her hands were in the pockets of her black hoodie, holding a small mp3 player . Her ear buds were in but it didn't stop her from noticing Owen when he ran up to her.
"Audra! Wait!"
Audra frowned but didn't stop, turn around, or even pause her music.
"Go away."
She walked a little faster and he didn't move. Audra smirked, happy he gave up so easily but then he was back.
"Come on Audra!"
She gritted her teeth.
"Go. Away."
Again, he paused for a brief moment before running up to her again. Audra turned around and glared, pausing her music.
"What do you want?"
Even though he was taller than her he wilted under her glare. Inside Audra smirked.
He ran a hand through his hair and looked at his shoes before looking back at her.
"Well I was, uh, wondering if you, um, would like to get ice cream with me?" At the last part he was looking at his feet and when he finished he glanced up at her.
Audra just started. Owen shifted back and forth on his feet.
"So um...?"
"You've got some nerve, I'll give you that." No one ever talked to her unless they had to.
Owen looked hopeful
"So you'll go?"
She forced out a cold laugh.
"Get ice cream with you? No, I walk alone."
And with that she turned away, playing her music. Owen didn't follow.
I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's only me and I walk alone
Aww. Poor Owen
